Hi! I’m Joshua Boydstun. I’m a freelance editor and researcher currently based in Louisville, Kentucky. I specialize in assisting scholars—from first-year graduate students to seasoned academics—with their writing and research projects. In addition to my author-oriented services, I have copyedited manuscripts for a variety of academic presses, including Eisenbrauns, MIT Press, New York University Press, Pennsylvania State University Press, Purdue University Press, University of Pennsylvania Press, and Yale University Press. I also have a background in writing and editing for journalism and nonprofit communications, as well as experience in text-based print design.
I hold a BA in religion from Vassar College and an MA in religion (with a focus on Jewish studies) from the University of Chicago Divinity School. My own scholarly interests include the history of the book, the history and visual culture of typography and design, Jewish textual traditions, and perceptions of Jews and Judaism in Islam and Christianity. In my free time, I enjoy baking muffins, browsing used book stores, identifying trees and insects, walking my three dogs, and tackling new home-improvement projects.
